Accounts Payable Clerk
The Town of Wilton's Finance Department is seeking applicants for the position of Accounts Payable Clerk to be responsible for all accounts payable processing for the Town and to perform related reconciliations and duties as necessary. The position also handles a variety of bookkeeping, administrative, secretarial, and clerical duties.
Essential functions include: reviews invoices for accuracy; performs and reviews data entry for invoices, journal entries, and accounts payable; reviews invoices for proper approval signatures and appropriate expenditures; maintains invoice files; processes checks for all funds; provides accurate responses to inquiries from vendors and other Town departments; performs receptionist duties for the Finance Department; and performs other duties as assigned by the Controller and Chief Financial Officer.
Required Knowledge, Abilities, and Skills:
- Knowledge of modern office procedures particularly as they relate to Accounts Payable processing;
- Familiarity with basic bookkeeping procedures and practices;
- Must possess good data entry, mathematical, and office skills;
- Ability to communicate effectively with the public and coworkers; and
- Ability to establish and maintain effective and cooperative working relationships with other Town departments and other public and private entities.
Minimum Requirements:
- A high school diploma;
- Minimum of three years of bookkeeping experience, including processing accounts payable and accounts receivable, posting entries to manual and computerized accounting systems, administrative responsibilities required by audit, recordkeeping of expenditures, and other tasks as assigned by Department administration; and
- Data entry experience.
Compensation: Starting Salary Range is $52,465 to $57,666 with competitive benefits package, including health, dental, vision, life, and disability insurance coverage as well as participation in the Town's Defined Contribution Plan. Equal Opportunity Employer (EOE).
