This position responds to fire and medical emergencies and other requests for service, performs fire prevention, maintains fire station and equipment, performs office work, and all other duties as requested by the supervisor. This position will report to the Fire Captain.
Detailed Work Activities
ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS :
PT - Firefighter I will be responsible for :
- Responding to reports of emergencies, which include fires, emergency medical calls, technical rescue incidents, hazardous materials, and other situations that may present hazards or harm to people or property.
- Inspects, maintains and makes minor repairs to apparatus, equipment and vehicles.
- Performs station maintenance duties including storing equipment, cleaning and maintaining the grounds.
- Conducts pre-incident surveys.
- Performs annual maintenance and testing of fire hydrants, hoses and other equipment and vehicles as required.
- Participates in mandatory physical fitness and other training.
- Assists with the preparation of fire reports.
- Represents the department at special events including but not limited to parades, open houses, station tours, educational activities and community presentations.
- Performs other duties as required.

Qualifications

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities
Are you at least 18 years of age?
Do you have a high school diploma / GED?
Do you have any previous experience as a firefighter (volunteer or career), please explain if yes?
This position requires mandatory training be obtained within the first twelve months, typically obtained on nights and weekends. Are you willing to attend the required training for this position?
