PT – Firefighter I will be responsible for:
- Responding to reports of emergencies, which include fires, emergency medical calls, technical rescue incidents, hazardous materials, and other situations that may present hazards or harm to people or property.
- Inspects, maintains and makes minor repairs to apparatus, equipment and vehicles.
- Performs station maintenance duties including storing equipment, cleaning and maintaining the grounds.
- Conducts pre-incident surveys.
- Performs annual maintenance and testing of fire hydrants, hoses and other equipment and vehicles as required.
- Participates in mandatory physical fitness and other training.
- Assists with the preparation of fire reports.
- Represents the department at special events including but not limited to parades, open houses, station tours, educational activities and community presentations.
- Performs other duties as required.

- Knowledge of modern firefighting methods, fire suppression techniques and fire prevention practices.
- Techniques of hazardous materials and emergency management.
- Knowledge of incident response including emergency medical service procedures as a first responder.
- Knowledge of applicable federal, state and local laws, codes and regulations.
- Ability to maintain effective working relationships with employees, volunteers, officials and members of the public.
- Effective customer service.
- The ability to act calmly and rationally in emergency situations.
- The skill and ability to perform minor maintenance on various equipment.
- The knowledge, skill, and ability to perform fire and life safety presentations to various age groups.
- Good communication skills both written and oral.
- Ability in use of radio/communications equipment, computers and associated programs, and basic office equipment.
