Location: Highland Park High School
Hours: One half an hour meeting per week with students, before school, limited meeting prep, plus approximately 8 activities a year, emails and meetings with Coalition staff, as needed
Pay: $3,800 to $4,400 per year, depending on experience. This is an annual contract, paid in 4 installments, with the opportunity to renew. Earnings are not TRS credible.
Purpose:
This grant-funded position is paid by Community – The Anti-Drug Coalition, a 501(c)3 nonprofit working at both Deerfield and Highland Park High Schools. The Coalition includes over 30 community organizations working together to help youth feel empowered to make drug-free choices.
The HPHS Delta Drug-Free Youth Coalition sponsor overseas student-led drug prevention education and leadership training. Resources and training are provided by Community Coalition staff. Signature events include lunchtime drug prevention trivia, lunchtime peer surveys, one concession fundraiser, and “The Collab,” a half day weekend training with DHS every fall. The sponsor facilitates student creation of a drug and alcohol school poster campaign and materials to be shared in school homerooms.
