About the Role
The Safety and Compliance Specialist will be responsible for ensuring the plant's compliance with current OSHA and other federal, state, and local agency laws and regulations as they pertain to safety and environmental issues. This role involves acting as the plant liaison with governmental agencies and serving as the plant representative in case of injuries, inspections, etc., to correct deficiencies and minimize impact on the plant. The successful candidate will also develop, implement, and manage safety policies, programs, and procedures that will reduce the frequency and severity of personal injuries and illnesses.
Responsibilities
- Assist management in implementing loss control and accident prevention measures to comply with TBA and plant mission and objectives.
- Act as the plant liaison with governmental agencies and serve as the plant representative in case of injuries, inspections, etc.
- Develop, implement, and manage safety policies, programs, and procedures that will reduce the frequency and severity of personal injuries and illnesses.
Requirements
- Bachelor's Degree in Safety, Environmental Science, Industrial Hygiene, Engineering, or related field required, or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
- Certification as Occupational Safety and Health Technician (OSHTEC), Associate Safety Professional (ASP), Certified Safety Professional (CSP), or Certified Industrial Hygienist (CIH).
- Minimum of 4 years diversified experience in safety, loss prevention, emergency response management, consulting, supervision, and administration in a manufacturing environment required (preferably automotive).

Work Environment/Conditions

The team member must be capable of walking, sitting, and standing for extended periods and may be occasionally required to lift up to 30 pounds.
