Team description
Research and Development (R&D) in Europe is responsible for the planning, the development and the production of attractive, superior quality cars matching European customers and market requirements.TME Powertrain Design and Evaluation departments' responsibility is to design & evaluation local developed powertrains before introduction to the market. We ensure the design is adapted and fit to European customers' expectations and European suppliers' production methods. This activity is done in close cooperation with our local suppliers, production plants and Toyota Motor Corporation (TMC) in Japan.
Your responsibilities
You improve TOYOTA Powertrains for the European market, being part of the further electrification of our line-up. As engineer in the Design and Evaluation department, you will be mainly responsible for high voltage batteries for Electric vehicles. You will contribute to the successful design and validation.
- You drive the development process of locally-developed parts.
- You support the suppliers in their development and ensure the development is finished on time and meets all Toyota's requirements.
- You review new components and decide evaluation strategy based on risk analysis
- In close cooperation with technicians and test facilities, you organise and execute the evaluations
- You are responsible to judge test outcome and initiate solutions for concerns found
- During the production preparation, you make sure parts achieve expected performance levels and support the plant in the assembly of your components
- You summarise and communicate to the project team towards a timely introduction in the market
Your Profile
- You are fluent in English (TME business language)
- You have a master’s engineering degree specialized in Electrochemical, Electronics, Electrical, Chemical or equivalent by experience
- Good knowledge of the various powertrain technologies especially high voltage batteries is an asset
- A team player that can work closely with other stakeholders
- You possess project management skills and deliver results on time
- You can conduct basic engineering calculations (Electrics, mechanical, FEM, etc) and analyse test data
- You summarize and explain complex technical information in a clear and visual way
- Hands-on, willing to get your hands dirty
- You can demonstrate creative thinking to solve complex issues / problems
- Appreciated computer skills: 3D DWG software (e.g. Catia/Pro-E or other), Python, Matlab, Diadem, Access, Visual basic, Artificial Intelligence… in addition to office tools
