Who we’re looking for
Toyota Motor North America’s Material Research Department is looking for a passionate and highly-motivated Research Scientist starting immediately.
The primary responsibility of this role is to develop state-of-art methodologies for applying the cutting-edge machine learning techniques in materials research and engineering problems. The position requires staying abreast of the emerging fields of materials informatics, performing original research, publishing/presenting results and involving in collaborative research. Candidate must be able to work effectively with a diverse group of scientists and engineers in collaborative research. The person in this role will support the Material Research department's objective to Material Informatics research.
What you’ll be doing
- Design pipelines of data inspection, cleaning, preprocessing and modeling;
- Incorporate machine learning towards a complete process-structure-performance optimization;
- Develop customized machine learning modeling to deal with a variety of problems/challenges in material informatics;
- Regularly report and present to the research team and managements;
- Draft invention disclosures for patent application, publish original research paper and attend conferences to communicate with external research communities.
What you bring
- PhD degree in Materials Science, Computer Science or related technical fields;
- Strength with deep learning techniques such as CNN, RNN, GAN and graphic neural network;
- Experience with data analysis in a highly discrete space;
- Self-motivated, intelligent individual with initiative and drive for overcoming technical challenges;
- Established capability in scientific writing and/or presenting;
- Solid track record of publishing in scientific journals.
