Position Summary : Responsible for estimating and takeoffs of plumbing and HVAC including sheet metal.. The individual should have a good understanding of all aspects of estimating for mechanical contracting and be able to communicate effectively with contractors, designers, owners, and job-site personnel, while representing TP Mechanical Contractors in a professional manner. Must be able to understand the design intent and fill in missing information to complete an estimate.
Responsibilities and Duties :
- Reading and understanding project specifications and drawings
- Provide projects material takeoffs and pricing
- Attend project site surveys and walks
- Proficient in inputting missing information in the bid documents. Completing the design with intent.
- Must stay current with all estimating software and attend training courses as needed and / or required.
- Provides the VP of Estimating quantitative material take-offs and inputs information into spreadsheets.
- Ensures smooth and timely estimates.
- Collaborate with vendors and subcontractors to secure scopes and pricing including but not limited to calling and / or meeting with them to discuss their scope of work.
- Ability to clearly write scope letters.
- All other duties as assigned.
Qualifications and Experience :
8 years’ experience in commercial plumbing, heating, and or fire protection estimating, or completion of approved apprenticeship program and 5 years’ experience as a Journeyman.
Ability to read and interpret technical documents.
High School Diploma or GED Equivalent, required.
Eyesight correctable to 20 / 50
Valid driver’s license.
