The Director of Resort Operations at Margaritaville sits on the Executive Committee and oversees all resort operations' day-to-day management and long-term strategy. This role ensures that all departments, including the front office, housekeeping, engineering, and laundry facility, operate efficiently and guest-centric while meeting the company’s service and financial goals.

The Director will work to maintain the laid-back, island-inspired experience synonymous with the Margaritaville brand while ensuring the highest level of guest satisfaction, operational excellence, and profitability.

Essential Job Expectations:

Strategic Leadership:

  • Lead and manage all operational departments, including Front Office, Housekeeping, Engineering, and Laundry Facility.
  • Ensure smooth daily operations, resolve issues swiftly, and maintain high service standards.
  • Develop and implement operational strategies to drive guest satisfaction, staff engagement, and cost efficiency.
  • Ensure all health, safety, and quality standards are met and regulatory requirements are followed.

Guest Experience:

  • Drive a culture of exceptional guest service across all departments, ensuring the Margaritaville philosophy of “relaxed fun” is embodied in every guest interaction.
  • Address guest complaints or service recovery opportunities to maintain and enhance brand loyalty.
  • Partner with marketing and sales teams to execute promotional events that attract guests and generate revenue.

Financial Management:

  • Develop and manage the resort’s operational budget, ensuring financial targets are met or exceeded.
  • Monitor departmental spending and identify cost-saving opportunities without compromising quality.
  • Analyze financial reports, including revenue, labor costs, and inventory, to recommend improvements.

Team Management & Development:

  • Hire and train department heads and staff.
  • Develop ongoing training programs to ensure staff members are knowledgeable, motivated, and aligned with the Margaritaville brand.
  • Set performance standards and provide team members with continuous feedback and professional development opportunities.

Collaboration & Communication:

  • Work closely with the General Manager, executive team, and other departments to align operational goals with overall resort objectives.
  • Communicate effectively with all resort staff to ensure smooth coordination of guest services and operations.
  • Serve as a liaison between resort operations and corporate leadership to ensure consistency with Margaritaville’s brand and operational standards.

Quality & Efficiency Improvements:

  • Identify opportunities for improving operational processes, guest services, and overall efficiency.
  • Lead the implementation of new technologies, systems, or procedures to streamline operations.

Facility Maintenance and Upkeep:

  • Oversee and ensure the entire resort's proper maintenance, warranty work, cleanliness, and upkeep, including regular inspections and preventative maintenance measures.

Reporting and Analysis:

  • Prepare regular reports and performance metrics for senior management, analyzing trends and identifying opportunities for growth and improvement.

Brand Integrity & Experience:

  • Ensure the Margaritaville spirit and aesthetic are maintained across the resort.
  • Promote a fun, friendly, and engaging atmosphere that aligns with the “no worries” lifestyle the brand is known for.
What you will bring:
  • Bachelor’s degree in hospitality management, business administration, or a related field.
  • Minimum of 7-10 years of experience in resort or hotel operations, with at least five years in a senior leadership role.
  • 5 years of Engineering and Maintenance experience in a resort setting.
  • Proven ability to manage multiple operational departments in a high-end resort or hotel environment.
  • Strong leadership and team management skills.
  • Excellent financial acumen, including experience with budgeting, forecasting, and reporting.
  • Exceptional guest service skills and a passion for delivering memorable experiences.
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced, dynamic environment with changing priorities.
  • Knowledge of industry regulations and compliance standards.
  • Familiarity with resort technology systems, including PMS (Property Management Systems) and F&B POS systems.
  • High energy, social skills, initiative, enthusiasm, and cooperation; good judgment and discretion.
  • Ability to work nights, weekends, and holidays required.
  • Exceptional interpersonal and communication skills; ability to actively multi-task in many different areas.
