Overview: The Sample Reception Specialist plays a crucial role in our laboratory operations by ensuring the accurate and complete logging of all incoming samples. This position guarantees that the samples received align with the details provided on the accompanying chain-of-custody documentation. Attention to detail and compliance with laboratory protocols are essential for maintaining the integrity of our analytical processes. This is a in a water testing facility, previous laboratory experience is preferred.
Key Responsibilities:
- Accurately log and process client samples according to Trace's standard operating procedures, ensuring timely and precise testing.
- Maintain comprehensive and legible records of all work performed, adhering to best practices in laboratory documentation.
- Utilize the Laboratory Information Management System (LIMS) to enter and monitor the status of samples, including assessing their condition upon receipt.
- Prepare and manage sample bottle orders as requested by project managers, assist walk-in clients, and coordinate shipping of bottle orders and subcontract samples, ensuring all labels are correctly affixed.
- Conduct inventory management of laboratory supplies, ensuring adequate stock levels.
- Support other tasks as assigned by the area supervisor to optimize laboratory workflow.
Qualifications:
- High school diploma or equivalent; further education in laboratory sciences is a plus.
- Strong attention to detail and the ability to multitask effectively under tight deadlines.
- Excellent organizational skills and a commitment to maintaining high standards of quality.
Physical Requirements:
- Ability to stand for extended periods (8 hours or more).
- Dexterity to perform detailed tasks involving manual handling.
- Capacity to lift up to 70 lbs, including coolers.
Work Schedule:
- Full-time position (40 hours per week) with overtime as needed to ensure samples are processed in a timely manner.
- Monday to Friday; first shift from 9:00 am to 6:00 pm.
- Lunch breaks will be scheduled as per daily operations.
