Overview:
Participates, reviews, and assists in cost estimating and bid services for the company’s pipe fabrication, civil, and mechanical construction business.
Responsibilities:
- Become familiar in the company’s estimating and job flow process
- Check in drawings from client provided Drawing List
- Performs quantity take-offs, determines necessary manpower, special equipment requirements, material items and necessary subcontractors
- Procures firm, detailed quotes from material suppliers, special equipment suppliers and necessary subcontractors
- Assist with preparing detailed estimates in accordance with the client’s specifications
- Assist team with preparing and reviewing project schedules
- Creates detailed proposal letter which lists specific items that are included and excluded from the quote in accordance with the client’s specifications and request for quote
- Attends bid review meetings as deemed necessary with Estimators or business line management to ensure accuracy, finalize bids and discuss strategy
- Maintains a job folder that contains pertinent information related to the job
- Periodically reviews and suggests updates in estimating policies, standards and procedures
Qualifications:
- Ability to professionally communicate with clients and vendors
- Ability to work well as part of a team structure
- Ability to remain focused in a fast-paced environment
- Ability to read isometric drawings is preferred
- Proficient in Microsoft Word, Excel and Outlook
- Good communication and organization skills
