Overview:
The Safety Intern will be responsible for participating in the oversight of all safety operations for the fabrication shops and helping to develop and maintain a strong safety culture.
Responsibilities:
- Comply with all Company Core Safety Rules, policies and procedures.
- Report any unsafe conditions wherever they exist to the safety department, their supervisor, or the management of Trade Construction immediately
- Report all incidents/accidents/injuries involving the health and wellbeing of any employee to management immediately
- Assist in the compliance with all government (federal, state, and local) required regulations
- Assist in the completion and maintenance of all required safety documentation
- Assist Trade’s Equipment Quarterly Inspection Program and Monthly Fire Extinguisher inspections
- Assist with managing Company’s Drug and Alcohol Program
- Participate in the weekly, monthly and quarterly safety meetings
- Participate in job walks and pre-job planning
- Perform job site audits, present results and ensure that action items are implemented
- Assist in accident/incident investigations, writing all reports and leading team meetings
- Assist in the onsite medical case management process
- Keep all human resource and personnel information confidential
- Performs other related duties as required by management
Required Qualifications:
- A student in good standing with the university enrolled in the OSHE program
- Working knowledge of Microsoft Office products
- Work with minimal day to day guidance; self-motivated to achieve the position’s responsibilities
- Willingness to participate in the safety management process
- Must be familiar with applicable federal, state, and local regulations
- Strong interpersonal and written communication skills
- Ability to work independently and effectively with other employees and departments
