Position Overview
The Fleet Manager will oversee the maintenance, organization, and compliance of Tragar’s vehicle fleet, supporting our service, delivery, plumbing, and installation teams. This role ensures our fleet operates safely, efficiently, and cost-effectively while maintaining high standards of service and reliability.
Key Responsibilities
Fleet Operations & Maintenance:
- Oversee the care and management of all company vehicles, including service vans, diesel delivery trucks.
- Develop and maintain strong working relationships with internal departments and external repair shops.
- Manage on-staff diesel mechanics and coordinate necessary vehicle repairs.
- Ensure all vehicles are maintained according to schedules, including oil changes, brakes, tires, filters, and wipers.
- Track and schedule state inspections, registrations, and leased vehicle maintenance to maximize benefits before lease expiration.
Fleet Logistics & Compliance:
- Keep detailed records of all maintenance and repairs using Enterprise systems.
- Review vehicle maintenance logs weekly and truck inspection reports daily.
- Monitor and verify fuel card statements for accuracy.
- Maintain the Enterprise fleet management system, ensuring driver assignments are accurate and up to date.
Emergency Response & Readiness:
- Coordinate a rapid response to breakdowns and vehicle emergencies.
- Ensure spare vehicles are always available for immediate use.
- Inspect returning vehicles for cleanliness, organization, and necessary repairs.
Strategic Fleet Management & Budgeting:
- Provide buy/sell recommendations to upper management based on fleet condition and cost analysis.
- Schedule and coordinate vehicle branding (truck wrapping) for new additions to the fleet.
- Work with the warehouse team to manage van inventory and equipment readiness.

Qualifications
Qualifications & Experience:
- Experience: 5 years in fleet management, logistics, or vehicle maintenance.
- Mechanical Knowledge: Strong understanding of diesel trucks, service vans, and maintenance schedules.
- Regulatory Compliance: Knowledge of DOT, FMCSA, and OSHA regulations with the ability to enforce safety programs.
- Leadership Skills: Proven ability to manage a team of drivers, mechanics, and vendors while ensuring efficiency.
- Budgeting & Procurement: Experience managing fleet costs, negotiating vendor contracts, and tracking expenses.
- Technology: Requires basic computer knowledge; in particular excel. Previous fleet management software a plus.
- Problem-Solving Abilities: Quick decision-making and problem resolution for breakdowns, accidents, and compliance issues.
