Job Description:
Purpose: The Parts Counter Associate assists customers and technicians in identifying and obtaining the correct heavy-duty and semi-trailer parts for vehicle repairs and maintenance. This role involves managing inventory, processing transactions, and ensuring that the parts counter area is organized and well-stocked. Your expertise supports efficient repair services and enhances customer satisfaction by providing knowledgeable and timely assistance.
Key Responsibilities:
- Assist all customers in selecting required parts in a friendly, professional, and efficient manner.
- Pull and fill orders from stock.
- Notify manager of out-of-stock parts or shop materials that need immediate attention.
- Locate out-of-stock parts from outside sources and submit an emergency order if necessary.
- Notify the service manager when ordered parts have been received.
- Replenish assigned inventory.
- Ensure all internal requests for parts are billed on repair orders.
- Keep orderly records of all special-order parts.
- Set up orders for daily shipment, delivery, or pick-up.
- Keep front and rear counter areas clean and uncluttered.
- Clean computer terminals and printers.
- Participate in all training programs that are made available.
- Stay current on new products and product updates.
- Maintain a professional appearance.
- Inspect shipments at loading and unloading for damage and quantities daily.
- Pull parts returns and fill out appropriate paperwork.
- Assist in physical inventory.
- Secure building/department at close daily.
- Count all UPS/FedEx deliveries, verify counts, and sign for them daily.
- Create parts price estimates for shop quotes.
- Order parts for jobs that have been approved.
- Provide ETAs for shop parts that are ordered.
- Other duties as assigned.
Qualifications and Education Requirements:
- High school diploma or GED required; an associate's or bachelor's degree in a related field is preferred.
- Previous experience in automotive or heavy-duty parts, customer service, or retail.
- Valid driver’s license with a clean driving record.
- Ability to lift and carry heavy items (up to 50 lbs) and perform physical tasks.
- Strong organizational skills and attention to detail.
- Excellent communication skills, both verbal and written.
- Basic computer skills, including proficiency in Microsoft Office applications.
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
- Familiarity with inventory management systems and procedures is a plus.

Work Setting & Conditions:
- Mainly indoors, environmentally controlled
- Regular cleaning required
- Ability to work Monday through Friday, 8 am to 5 pm, plus occasionally extended hours as needed
Work Attire:
- Business casual attire, Monday – Thursday, business innovative on Friday (jeans approved)
