What are the responsibilities and job description for the Used Equipment Coordinator position at Trailer Equipment?
Trailer Equipment is looking to hire a Used Equipment Coordinator to evaluate, maintain, and remarket the company’s local used equipment inventory. The manager must be self-reliant and organized and possess the ability to influence the customer and our employees to close the sale. This position coordinates with the sales manager, local sales representatives, and perspective service and parts departments to facilitate the acquisition and disposal of used equipment.
We are looking for the right candidate with a minimum of 5 years of relevant job experience. Previous inventory management experience is a plus!
Job Tasks:
- Ensure weekly updates for the local sales team, including a current used trailer inventory, costs, sold trailer status, incoming trades or purchases, and any other available inventory.
- Maintain an updated used trailer customer list for inventory acquisition and disposal – CRM Duties.
- Communicate with Marketing on monthly advertising emails and updated incoming/outgoing equipment – best utilize online sales presence.
- Establish leads for territory sales representatives or in-house sales representatives for follow-up.
- Advise on all inventory to ensure it meets our trade terms and conditions – within two business days of arrival.
- Be familiar with the market and auction prices to establish used equipment values based on Market Value rather than Book Value.
- Accurately estimate and cost equipment for resale.
- Forecast the market to control inventory.
- Responsible for the location of all inventory
- Manage overage inventory
- Be active and organized in refurbishing inventory while controlling costs.
- You must be knowledgeable about all types of used trailer products, including vans, reefers, flatbeds, refrigeration units, suspensions, ABS, PSI, Trucks, Switchers, etc.
Requirements
Education:
- Bachelor's Degree (Preferred)
Experience:
- Must be able to work Monday through Friday 8 am to 5 pm plus occasionally extended hours as needed.
- Must be able to travel overnight occasionally

- Very strong interpersonal skills and the capability to build relationships with all clientele, including contractors, manufacturing representatives, co-workers, and a sophisticated customer base.
- Demonstrated take-charge approaches to problem-solving with strong decision-making capability.
- Must have a valid driver’s license.
