Overview
We are seeking a skilled Kitchen Manager/Chef to join our all-star team! Since re-opening TRAILSIDE BAR & RESTAURANT (Owls Head, NY) in February 2024 we have been absolutely rocking, the community has shown their full support and loves having their hometown bar back. We are a destination for active people from all across the North Country!

The ideal candidate will have experience in kitchen management and possess a passion for culinary arts. Working closely with Restaurant Manager to execute our menu and develop new and exciting dishes for our rotating seasonal menus and daily specials.

Kitchen Manager with oversee all aspects of kitchen operations, including staff management, food prep, inventory, staffing, and cost management while ensuring adherence to NYS health and safety requirements.

Responsibilities

- Food Preparation: Oversee food preparation, ensuring adherence to recipes and quality standards. Following food preparation standards and regulations required by the NYS Department of Health.

- Food safety and Hygiene: Maintain a clean and sanitary kitchen, adhering to NYS DOH standards and regulations.

- Quantity and quality control: Inspecting food quality and presentation, and taking corrective action as needed.

- Training and supervising: Train and supervise kitchen staff, ensuring they possess the necessary skill and knowledge in their position. Keeping staff on task and productive in down times. Leading the team to be successful for themselves and the business. Evaluating staff performance, giving positive and constructive feedback is required to maintain a positive and productive work environment. Keeping the team motivated toward achieving new goals and maintaining what we like to consider our kitchen standards.

- Scheduling: Create and manage kitchen staff schedules. Ensuring adequate coverage and efficient workflow. This will be a collaborative effort with the Restaurant Manager as we continue to keep understanding our “norms” of the holidays and seasons to ensure we are monitoring food cost vs. labor expenses.

- Ordering and Inventory: Managing food inventory and supplies, ensuring adequate stock levels, while minimizing waste. This includes “shopping” between distributors for best prices and quality.

Menu Development: This will be a collaborative effort with staff and management to develop and refine menus as necessary, ensuring quality and customer satisfaction. Dish presentation is important to us here at Trailside- we want everyone to eat with their eyes first.

Qualifications

  • Proven experience as a Chef or in a similar role within the food industry.
  • Strong knowledge of food safety practices and regulations.
  • Excellent leadership skills with the ability to motivate and manage a diverse team.
  • Experience in menu planning and banquet preparation is highly desirable.
  • Familiarity with inventory control processes and kitchen management best practices.
  • A passion for hospitality and delivering exceptional dining experiences is essential.

Job Type: Full-time

Pay: $23.00 - $26.00 per hour

Expected hours: 40 – 50 per week
