Job Overview
Training Technologies and Support, Inc. (TTS) is seeking a Behavioral Scientist to support leadership studies, assessments, and product development for the Department of Defense (DoD). This position involves designing and executing behavioral research on leadership practices, leader development, and human performance improvement within the U.S. Army. The ideal candidate will apply scientific principles and methods to help enhance leadership effectiveness and development initiatives, ensuring research standards meet or exceed industry best practices.
Responsibilities
- Conduct studies on human phenomena related to Army leadership and leader development.
- Perform literature reviews, product investigations, and data analyses to identify actionable insights.
- Use surveys, tests, and experimental designs to explore leadership practices and learning motivation.
- Assist in creating and refining leadership assessment and feedback tools.
- Evaluate leader development programs, offering evidence-based recommendations for improvement.
- Support the design, testing, and implementation of innovative leader development initiatives.
- Analyze data using advanced statistical techniques and follow standardized protocols (e.g., SIOP Principles, APA formatting).
- Prepare engaging, reader-friendly reports for broad military audiences, using effective visualizations and clear language.
- Ensure compliance with U.S. Government Publishing Office and other relevant professional writing standards.
- Adhere to all federal and Army regulations for the protection of human subjects (e.g., 32 CFR 219, 45 CFR 46, DODI 3216.02, AR 70-25).
- Obtain or maintain certification in human subjects' protection (e.g., CITI) as required.
Minimum Qualifications
- Education: Master’s degree or Ph.D. in Behavioral Science (e.g., Psychology, Industrial/Organizational Psychology, Human Factors, or related field).
- Experience: At least 1 year of applied research and development (R&D) experience in leadership, training, education, leader development, human resource management, or human performance improvement.
- Proficiency in designing and administering attitude surveys, experiments, or quasi-experimental studies.
- Familiarity with standard data analysis methods and software (e.g., SPSS, R, or similar).
- Working knowledge of professional guidelines such as SIOP Principles and AERA Standards.
Preferred Qualifications
- Military Experience: Prior work with military populations or an understanding of military culture and leadership challenges.
- Advanced Statistical Skills: Experience with complex data modeling, psychometrics, or assessment validation.
- Professional Writing & Presentation: History of producing reports/articles adhering to APA or GPO standards, with the ability to communicate findings clearly to technical and non-technical audiences.
