About the position:
The Food Program Coordinator will work with the Food Program Manager to implement the food program at TransPonder. This program currently distributes approximately 1,000 pounds of food to 30 households weekly through an in-person food program at 440 Maxwell Rd, Eugene, OR 97404. This program will also coordinate services to low-income participants in the Lane County area. The Food Program Coordinator will assist in the expansion of the current food program at TransPonder.
Reports to: Food Program Manager
Work Schedule: Full-time. The schedule may include weekends and evenings as needed.
Work Location: Offsite and onsite (440 Maxwell Rd. Eugene, OR 97404).

Salary:$20 - $22/hour, depending on experience.
TransPonder determines starting pay based on relevant education and experience as provided by the applicant in their application materials. This process is consistent with the Oregon Equal Pay Act (OEPA).
Essential functions and responsibilities may include but are not limited to the following:Program Coordination
- Implement the in-person food program at TransPonder’s service location, including pick-up, distribution, cleaning, and space organization.
- Distribute food and other programmatic items to program participants, including drop-off of supplies to participants’ homes.
- Regular periods of sorting, packing, and driving to drop off food boxes and other programmatic items at various addresses around the Eugene/Springfield area.
- Assist the Food Program Manager to expand the service delivery of the food program.
- Collect data on program deliverables and assist the Food Program Manager with reports.
- Assist the Food Program Manager with program evaluations.
- Facilitate groups.
Outreach
- Assist participants with accessing TransPonder’s programs and external resources and provide basic needs outreach as needed.
- Create and distribute educational materials.
- Collaborate with Food For Lane County, Oregon Department of Human Services, the Lavender Network, The Belonging Space, and other community-based agencies.
- Create and distribute marketing materials.
General Duties
- Ensure the confidentiality of participants.
- Participate in necessary meetings.
- Participate in required training.
- Comply with all applicable standards, guidelines, laws, and administrative rules.
- Other duties as defined by supervisor.
Physical Demands
While performing the duties of this job, the following are required of the employee:
- Repetitive use of hands, such as grasping, twisting/turning of wrists, and finger dexterity, are necessary to perform various clerical duties, such as typing and writing.
- Frequent use of arms, such as pushing and pulling open drawers.
- Ability to sit or stand for extended periods at an assigned station.
- Ability to bend, stand, and reach, and lift and carry up to 50 pounds.
- Continuous clarity of vision at 20 inches or less for processing of paperwork.

Working Conditions, Travel, & Environment
The duties of this job require individuals to be able to work in non-traditional and community-based settings.
The duties of this job require regular attendance:
- Ability to work flexible hours, including early mornings, evenings, and weekends.
- Ability to work in a variety of community settings, including those that are crowded and noisy.
- Ability to work 5 days per week for a minimum of 40 hours.
Travel to other locations as necessary to complete essential job functions:
- Ability to transport self to job-related events and locations.
Qualifications
We seek a candidate who can communicate effectively verbally and in writing with participants, staff, and community partners with varying beliefs, behaviors, orientations, identities, and cultural backgrounds. The candidate would have the ability to stay calm, kind, and non-judgmental with various vulnerable participants; have excellent problem-solving and organizational skills; experience with multitasking; good follow-through and task management skills; ability to maintain professionalism, which holds a safe, respectful, and productive environment for participants, volunteers, and staff; ability to work in a busy and dynamic environment; and ability to work with participants in crisis in a variety of settings. They must also have the desire to work with diverse populations.
Required Qualifications:
- Two (2) years of relevant work experience.
- High school diploma or a GED.
- Valid Oregon driver’s license.
Preferred Qualifications:
- Two (2) years of experience working with members of the LGBTQ community.
- Fluent in Spanish.
