What are the responsibilities and job description for the Driver Safety Compliance Manager position at Transportation Services Unlimited?
Summary:
This position is responsible for ensuring that all company drivers are following prescribed standard operating procedures, Federal DOT requirements, State and Local motor vehicle traffic laws during the driver’s daily duties. Compliance will include, but not be limited to, safe driving skills, safe delivery methods, and following company policies and procedures. This position will require travelling on the road with the drivers, training at the branches and coaching drivers in the field.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
- Conduct classroom training with drivers on various safety and procedural topics related to their job function.
- Train drivers at each facility throughout the year, not only when counseling is required, but to engage with the driver team in the field.
Train drivers on:
- Safe driving methods and practices, as well as safe delivery methods of all company products
- Proper SOP’s of handling company products
- Hazardous material requirements and specifications
- Observe drivers through direct supervision while conducting driving and delivery activities with drivers
- Identify unsafe conditions at the delivery sites and report these hazards to management
- Perform continuous review of training procedures for improvements; identify new trainings and methods to improve driver training process
- Perform formal driver evaluations for each company driver and incorporate those observations into driver’s annual review
- Perform re-training with drivers who have been suspended or determined “at fault” for a preventable incident or accident
- Perform post-accident investigations
