Inbound Routing/Transportation Manager
Overview:
We are seeking an experienced Inbound Routing Manager to lead the assessment and optimization of inbound transportation and routing processes for supply deliveries across a nationwide network of over 2,800 locations. This role is critical in evaluating current logistics operations, identifying cost-saving opportunities, and recommending strategies, staffing, and technologies for scalable improvements.
Key Responsibilities:
- Current State Analysis:
- Analyze transportation costs and shipping data from ~60 suppliers handling over 1.2 million annual purchase orders.
- Map shipping patterns including origin/destination zip codes, weight, and piece count.
- Value Proposition Development:
- Use analysis to model potential cost savings with external carriers and benchmark proposed rates.
- Summarize findings in an executive-level overview to quantify savings opportunities.
- Change Management Planning:
- Segment transportation costs by delivery method (private fleet, 3PLs, incoterms, etc.) to assess what can be optimized now vs. later.
- Resource & Technology Recommendations:
- Propose staffing needs and suggest scalable technology tools for routing management.
- Outline system requirements without conducting a full RFP.
Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s in Supply Chain, Logistics, Business, or related field.
- 5 years in logistics/transportation management, with 2 years in a leadership capacity.
- Proficient in TMS, routing systems, and Microsoft Office.
- Strong analytical, project management, and communication skills.
- Knowledge of regulatory and industry practices in logistics.
Preferred:
- Experience in healthcare logistics.
- Background in cost-reduction and operational efficiency initiatives.
