Purpose of this position:
The Marketing & Communications Coordinator is responsible for helping promote and market Medford as a premier visitor destination, leading to increased overnight visitation and lodging occupancy. The key duty of this role is to implement and execute the overall marketing strategy and programs set by the Chief Marketing Officer through communications, social media marketing, content curation, website maintenance and improvements, and to fulfill other marketing initiatives. This position will be an expert in the Travel Medford voice, brand, and style guidelines and can tailor communication and materials to a wide variety of audiences with consistency, accuracy and efficiency. The right candidate is a self-starter with the ability to move projects forward while managing a structured workflow in a fast-paced environment. This position is supervised by Travel Medford’s Chief Marketing Officer (CMO) reports to the Senior Vice President.
Job duties and responsibilities include:
Marketing
- Responsible for implementation and execution of the Travel Medford marketing plan as directed by the Chief Marketing Officer, fulfilling advertising/promotional deadlines and projects
- Implement content and editorial calendar by brainstorming, researching and curating content on all platforms based on identifying trends, content gaps, and analytics while collaborating and integrating sports marketing initiatives
- Content curation and management of third-party content creators and vendors
- Implement and execute a social media marketing strategy by producing posts, videos, reels, guides, etc. on all platforms for Travel Medford (Facebook, Instagram, TikTok, LinkedIn, Vimeo, YouTube, etc.)
- Website management including SEO/SEM implementation and execution, page development, website auditing, leisure accounts and listings, and general website maintenance and updates
- Blog writing including researching, and writing as well as copyrighting and editing for all marketing materials
- Assist in developing strategic ideas for tourism promotion programs and projects including campaign implementation, deployment and tracking
- Serve as the point of contact for general website inquiries, visitor guide/leads fulfillment, leads and contact list management and contact us forms
- Support CMO in conducting market research and advertising effectiveness
Communications
- Support role for both internal and external press/public relations strategy including assisting journalists and partners with requested assets and information in timely manner
- Management of influencers while coordinating travel writers and familiarization trip logistics and itineraries; represent Travel Medford during familiarization (FAM) trips
- Research, write and compile industry and consumer e-newsletters
- Monitor Travel Medford social media accounts and communicate with consumers
- Provide friendly customer service to visitor inquiries and answer direct phone calls from potential visitors as needed
General
- Content management, including organizing, maintaining, and updating photo and video library
- Monitor and evaluate paid marketing platforms; compile, analyze, track, and create reports for social media, website, programs, projects, campaigns, and contests
- Represent The Chamber of Medford & Jackson County and Travel Medford at applicable events such and trade shows and local events and attend relevant staff and industry meetings including Tourism Council, city council, board of directors as requested
- Other duties as assigned by the Travel Medford Senior Vice President

- Experience with current trends in digital/social media arenas and analyzing competitive landscape
- Proficient in variety of software including Microsoft 365 programs, Google products, project management software, content management systems, Canva
- General area and destination knowledge, specific to the city of Medford, knowledge of the tourism industry is recommended
- Eagerness to learn, grow and sharpen professional skills
- A customer-focused attitude and the ability to listen to customer and partner needs
- Willingness to travel for various events and professional development opportunities
- Must be able to work some evenings and weekends
Certificates, Licenses and Registrations
- Bachelor’s degree in marketing, communications, business administration preferred; equivalent combination of relevant experience (3 years) and education will be considered
- Valid Driver’s license and reliable transportation
- Must pass background/drug test
Physical Requirements
- Requires travel and ability to operate a motor vehicle
- Must be able to lift up to 35 lbs
- Must be able to sit, stand and walk throughout the work day and be in front of a computer for an extended period of time
Compensation
Salary range is $55,000-$65,000 per year plus a benefits package that includes health, dental, vision, life and insurance, 401k, 401k match, flexible spending account, paid time off (holidays, vacation), paid sick time as accrued.
