PRIMARY PURPOSE:
Assist the school principal in the overall administration of the instructional program and operations at the campus level. Coordinate assigned student activities and services.
QUALIFICATIONS:
Education/Certification:
Master’s Degree
Texas Mid management or other appropriate Texas certificate
Certified instructional supervisor and appraiser in Professional Development and Appraisal System
Valid Texas teaching certificate
Special Knowledge/Skills:
Thorough understanding of school administrative operations
Strong organizational, communication, and interpersonal skills
Experience:
Three years experience as a classroom teacher
MAJOR RESPONSIBILITIES AND DUTIES:
- Participate in the development and evaluation of educational programs.
- Encourage and support the development of innovative instructional programs, helping teachers to pilot such efforts when appropriate.
- Facilitate the use of technology in the teaching/learning process.
- Promote a positive, caring climate for learning.
- Deal sensitively and fairly with persons from diverse cultural backgrounds.
- Employ effective interpersonal skills.
- Participate in collaborative process to develop campus improvement plans with staff, parents, and community members.
- Assist principal in developing, maintaining, and using appropriate information systems and records necessary for attainment of campus performance objectives and academic excellence indicators.
- Observe employee performance, record observations, and conduct evaluation conference with staff; serve as an appraiser in the professional Development and Appraisal System.
- Assist principal in interviewing, selecting, and orienting new staff.
- Supervise operations in the absence of the regular principal.
- Assist in the administration of the daily organization of the school including class scheduling, teacher assignments, and extracurricular activities.
- Supervise the reporting and monitoring of student attendance and work with the attendance supervisor on investigate follow-up actions.
- Work with department heads and faculty in compiling annual budget requests based upon documented program needs.
- Requisition supplies, textbooks, and equipment; conduct inventories; maintain records; and verify receipts for such materials.
- Cooperative in the conducting of safety inspections and safety drill practices activities.
- Coordinate transportation, custodial, cafeteria, and other support services.
- Implement the policies established by federal and state law, State Board of Educational rule, and local board policy.
- Coordinate and provide adequate supervision of students during noninstructional periods.
- Provide input to develop a student management system that results in positive student behavior.
- Ensure that school rules are uniformly observed and that student discipline is appropriate and equitable.
- Conduct conferences with parents, students, and teachers concerning school and student issues.
- Develop professional skills appropriate to job assignment.
- Demonstrate behavior that is professional, ethical, and responsible.
- Articulate the school’s mission to the community and solicit its support in realizing the mission.
- Demonstrate awareness of school-community needs and initiate activities to meet those identified needs.
- Use appropriate and effective techniques for community and parent involvement.
- Administer medication to students, check temperatures, and notify parents of student illness in nurse’s absence.
- Perform any other duties as may be assigned by the Principal.
SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITIES:
Shares supervisory responsibility for professional staff with school principal. Supervise teachers, custodians, paraprofessionals, and clerical personnel and others when assigned by principal.

Salary : $291 - $414
