The Manager, Workforce Management is responsible for optimizing labor costs, improving workforce efficiency, and ensuring that labor strategies align with business goals. This position will work closely with the field leaders, store operations, HR, and finance teams to implement effective labor management practices and drive operational excellence across multiple locations.
ROLES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
- Labor Forecasting & Scheduling: Develop and manage labor forecasts based on sales trends, seasonal demands, and business goals. Create efficient and effective scheduling strategies that balance customer needs with labor cost optimization.
- Cost Management: Analyze labor data to identify areas for cost reduction and efficiency improvement. Ensure that labor expenses stay within budget and align with company objectives.
- Process Improvement: Identify opportunities to streamline processes and implement best practices to improve labor productivity and effectiveness across retail locations.
- Team Collaboration: Work closely with store managers, multi-store leaders, HR, and the finance team to ensure labor policies and practices are followed and aligned with the overall company strategy.
- Data Analysis & Reporting: Track key performance indicators (KPIs) related to labor, such as sales per labor hour, and provide regular reports and insights to senior management on labor performance and trends.
- Training & Development: Provide guidance and training to store managers on labor management best practices, tools, and systems to help them optimize scheduling, staffing, and productivity.
- Compliance & Labor Laws: Ensure adherence to all labor laws, regulations, and company policies regarding staffing, scheduling, and overtime.
- Technology & Tools: Implement and manage labor management software and tools to automate and streamline scheduling processes, track labor metrics, and generate actionable insights.
TECHNICAL COMPETENCIES (Knowledge, Skills & Abilities)
- Strong analytical skills with the ability to interpret labor data and generate actionable insights.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to collaborate effectively across teams.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Excel or similar data analysis tools.
- Strong problem-solving abilities and attention to detail.
- Knowledge of labor laws and regulations related to hourly & exempt status employees.
- Moderate technical skills related to system / software administration and management.
EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE
- Bachelor's degree in Business, Retail Management, or a related field preferred.
- Experience with labor management software systems (e.g., Store Force, Legion, or similar) from both an end-user and platform management side.
- Minimum of 3-5 years of experience in labor management, workforce planning, or retail operations.
- Retail or multi-location experience preferred.
- Previous experience in a managerial or leadership role
PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS / WORK ENVIRONMENT (if applicable)
- Work is performed in a designated professional office workstation and environment.
- Extensive use of office equipment to include computer, calculator, copier, fax, and other business-related machines and software.
