Position Summary:
This project is an incrementally launched, 1000’ long, steel composite bridge on the Kenai Peninsula of Alaska, South of Anchorage. The project is anticipated to last approximately 4-5 years and entails large-diameter drilled shafts, substructure concrete, steel plate girder pre-assembly and launching, and a cast-in-place concrete deck. The location is remote in nature, with an approximate 1-hour drive to the nearest town. The primary objective of this role is to manage the Engineering function on the bridge project.
Key Tasks and Responsibilities:
- Reviews project proposal or plan to determine time frame, funding limitations, procedures or accomplishing project, staffing requirements, and allotment of available resources
- Confers with project staff to outline work plan and to assign duties, responsibilities, and scope of authority
- Directs and coordinates engineering activities of project personnel to ensure the project progresses on schedule and within the prescribed budget
- Reviews status reports for management, client, and others
- Coordinates projects activities with Traylor personnel and joint venture partners
- Responsible for the overall direction, coordination, and evaluation of the project engineering; including safety, performance, budget, scheduling, equipment management and quality
- Carries out supervisory responsibilities in accordance with the organization’s policies and applicable laws
- Work with and be part of the estimating departments during project procurement phases
- Assume additional responsibilities as directed by division and corporate management.
