Job Description: Unlicensed Aide
JOB SUMMARY:
1. The Unlicensed Aide provides personal care services under the direction of the Registered Nurse. The Unlicensed Aide is assigned to specific clients by the Registered Nurse or other appropriate professionals and performs services for clients as necessary to maintain their comfort. They must have current CPR and First Aid certifications. They must have a current criminal background check and health information. The Unlicensed Aide reports to the DON/RN.
Primary Functions:
1. Provides medication reminders (if applicable).
2. Assistance in ambulation
3. Performs personal care activities, including but not limited to
- Shampooing
- Skincare/nail care
- Oral hygiene
- Shaving
4. Performs household services essential to health care at home, including but not limited to:
5. Meal preparation/feeding
6. Laundry
7. Light housekeeping
- Reports any observed or reported changes in the client's condition and/or needs to Registered Nurse.
- Document care services provided and complete the forms required for the client's records.
- Promotes personal safety and a safe environment for clients by observing infection control practices, following agency guidelines, and reporting unsafe situations to the Supervisor/Care Manager.
- Demonstrates safe practices in the use of equipment. Does not use equipment until orientation has been provided. Notifies supervisor of educational needs.
- Communicates effectively with all interdisciplinary team members through verbal reports, participation in staff meetings, and team conferences, as requested.
- Maintains confidentiality in all aspects of the job.
- Participates in required in-service programs to meet compliance requirements.
- Performs other related duties and responsibilities as deemed necessary.
Qualifications:
1. Education: Successful completion of a formal certification training program and/or a written skills test and competency evaluation;
2. Be at least eighteen (18) years of age.
3. Demonstrated ability to read, write, and follow a written plan of care; Good interpersonal skills are necessary.
4. Current driver's license, good driving record, and reliable transportation
