Day in the Life of a Certified Recovery Specialist

  • Provide peer-based recovery support services to individuals contemplating or actively seeking help with behavioral health recovery.
  • Engage in relationship building with individuals to establish rapport, as evidenced by empathetic and active listening and communicating in a non-judgmental way.
  • Participate in daily shift debriefs, as well as weekly individual supervision, and monthly group supervision.
  • Administrative duties to include recovery plan creation, data tracking and entry, and regular digital communication via e-mail, group messaging apps, etc.
  • Conduct self in an ethical manner by adhering to the TCBAP codes of ethics.
  • Follow and adhere to the recovery bill of rights.

Education and Experience requirements:

  • At minimum, High School Diploma or GED required.

  • Experience in a fast-paced environment, servicing many clients, is preferred.

  • Experience in healthcare, addiction medicine, community health, care coordination preferred.

  • Experience with building individualized care plans is a plus.

  • Knowledge of compliant documentation practices

  • Lived Addiction experience is a plus.

Hours, Schedule, and Travel

 

Our Certified Recovery Specialists work within a localized geographical area where we have multiple locations that are open on select days. The location nearest to you is considered your primary work location. It is expected that Certified Recovery Specialists will work out of their primary work location and additional secondary work locations if required.

  • Expected hours for this role are 37-40 hours per week with few opportunities for overtime.

  • Clinic hours range anywhere from 6:30 AM – 9:00 PM. Business hours do vary based on the location.

  • Travel varies by district, candidates should expect to travel to their primary work location, Kensington, and the following secondary work locations, Feasterville, West Tabor Rd., North Broad St, NE Philadelphia, and Girard Ave.

    • Crossroads matches the current IRS mileage reimbursement rate/mile for any travel to a secondary work location, apart from travel to your primary work location. Travel reimbursement is calculated from your primary work location to the secondary location.

    • Our Care Managers are truly on the front lines. Patients rely on various resources that we have at our disposal because of the community partners we work with. Helping someone find a safe place to sleep, food to eat, finding safe and fair healthcare happens daily in this role.

    • Addiction medicine is not typical healthcare, but this field is highly trainable!
