What are the responsibilities and job description for the Group Leader/Assistant Goup Leader After School position at Tree of Life Early Learning Center?
SUMMARY Organize and lead activities that support the program’s philosophy of providing a positive, safe and inclusive learning environment for all children.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES include the following.
Other duties may be assigned.
- Work cooperatively with the teaching staff to ensure a positive and safe learning environment; facilitate opportunities for learning in groups and as individuals.
- Facilitate a variety of activities promoting social emotional learning including language development, sensory based play, art, science, math and music and movement based on state guidelines.
- Guide children in developing age-appropriate nutritional, health, and personal habits.
- Ensure the safety of children and staff through age-appropriate child guidance in accordance with program guidelines and Department of Early Education and Care regulations.
- Maintain current documentation for each child including intake interviews, special needs, progress reports, and correspondence with parents.
- Participate in regular staff meetings, planning and evaluations sessions; all information regarding children and families must remain confidential.
- Assist with setting up the classroom at the beginning of the year and packing and storing materials at the end of the year; also assist with maintenance and inventory.

EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE Degree in Early childhood education preferred. Previous experience in similar setting required.
CERTIFCATES, LICENSES, and/or REGISTRATIONS Massachusetts Licensed Child Care Provider. Must meet the Department of Early Education and Care regulatory requirements. Must complete Strong Start trainings prior to beginning employment. First Aid and CPR certification preferred not required.
FLSA STATUS Hourly, non-exempt position.
