What are the responsibilities and job description for the Career Pathways Program Director position at Tree Trust?

Job Summary: The Director of Career Pathways believes in the potential of all young people and desires to help them succeed. This role directs the execution of Tree Trust’s Career Pathways programs including the Summer Youth Employment Program (SYEP), Branches, and Tree Trust YouthBuild aligned with Tree Trust’s mission, vision, and core values. Our programs offer youth and young adults experiencing barriers to employment the opportunity to build sustainable and meaningful careers by equipping them with training and hands-on experience in the green industry.
Essential Functions:
- Serve on the Tree Trust Leadership Team
- Deliver programs that fulfill outreach, recruitment, training, retention and employment placement goals
- Build effective team structures and document program scopes that include processes, timelines, meetings, post-program reviews, continuous improvement goals and key success factors.
- Hire, lead and develop a team of 4 - 6 direct employees and 10 – 20 indirect employees dependent upon the season.
- Build and sustain collaborative and communicative relationships with all team members and stakeholders, including government and foundation funders, as well as nonprofit and employment partners.
- Represent and promote Tree Trust and its programs within the workforce development and philanthropic communities in the Twin Cities metro area.
- Understand and deliver funder requirements, including planning, promotion, evaluation, budget, data entry, use of data, and accurate reporting.
- Manage the Career Pathways division budget.
- Collaborate with all applicable divisions, departments, teams and individuals in the performance of the above responsibilities.
Qualifications/Skills Required

- At least five (5) years of non-profit multi-program management experience.
- Experience with the Twin Cities workforce development community, including schools, businesses, local governments, community-based organizations, and organizational funders.
- Experience with and a solid understanding of grant management, compliance, and reporting, preferably with workforce development grants.
- Experience leading multiple programs in a nonprofit environment is strongly preferred.
- Experience leading a team to reach their full potential, creating a high-performing, cohesive environment that achieves program, individual and organizational goals.
- Strong operational experience in creating systems, processes, program plans, and managing and analyzing data.
- Proficient with Microsoft Office applications and Customer Service Management (CRM) Systems such as Salesforce, Workforce One (WF1), or similar. (Salesforce highly preferred)
- Excellent interpersonal, verbal, and written communication skills.
- Ability to pass a background and motor vehicle records check.
Work Environment: Indoor office environment; Frequent visits to outdoor and indoor participant worksites.
Physical demands: Lifting and carrying up to 25 lbs. Reach with hands and arms. Standing or sitting for long periods of time. Significant screen viewing and keyboarding/typing time, repetitive movement of hands and fingers. Constantly required to communicate with the ability to talk and hear.
