OVERVIEW
The role of the Engagement Director is to lead and strengthen Treetops Collective’s ability to fundraise and increase its engagement through meaningful interactions with the community and funding partners. This role is an essential part of the Treetops Collective leadership team, supervising three full-time employees and working alongside the Executive Director and Program Operations Director. The Engagement Director will drive Treetops fundraising efforts while creating donor engagement strategies and events that serve to further Treetops Collective mission of investing into refugee women and girls, together transforming our community into one of belonging.
RESPONSIBILITIES
Development
- Build strategy and carry out annual giving in partnership with the Executive Director
- Provide leadership and support to building the monthly giving program
- Network with local businesses and seek opportunities for collaboration and sponsorship
- Support the Development Coordinator in creating and polishing proposals and reports for foundations and major donors
- Participate in planning for annual multi-channel fundraising campaigns and own areas of the campaign as assigned
- Commit to learning more about donors by endeavoring to lead a donor survey, utilizing the team and board to connect each year directly - with intentional follow-up in the donor management system, tiering and tagging according to their preferred methods of communication, passions, and proclivities
- Build a Fund Development Committee that can leverage individuals from multiple sectors to create a calendar of engagement events for donors and community members
- Prepare fundraising board reports before each board meeting
Engagement & Communications
- Lead broad-based communications strategy and supervise Communications Manager, including the use of multiple forms of media and platforms to execute communications plan, print campaigns and annual appeals - while investing deeply into storytelling
- Build a timeline for communication with donors to properly update and thank them, automating as much as possible and when manual thanking is required, providing timely, personal thank yous
- Oversee the work of the Building & Event Manager to maximize the use of the building for sustainable revenue and unique cultural experiences that act as donor/partner cultivation
- Serve as the main driver and planner of engagement events for donors, including leading the Fund Development Committee and Treetops team in the planning of our Annual Celebration and initiating strategic invites to the Concentric Leadership Showcase
Other Responsibilities
- Prepare agendas and co-lead with the Executive Director all Fund Development Committee meetings (typically monthly, with increased regularity while planning the Annual Celebration).
- Meet weekly (or bi-weekly, depending on the season) with the Executive Director to track financial and relational progress, discuss challenges, and find strategic and timely solutions
- Attend Monday morning team meetings and set a weekly schedule of in-office and remote work hours. Remote and flexible hours can be up to 25% of total work time
- Report once a month to the Executive Director and team for current metrics, opportunities, and challenges
QUALIFICATIONS
- A Bachelor’s Degree in a related field is preferred. (Communications, Public Relations, Nonprofit Management, etc.)
- Ability to manage multiple responsibilities with various deadlines and be highly detail-oriented
- Commitment to people-centered and relational donor cultivation
- Highly self-directed, driven, and passionate about the work
- Ability to intuitively communicate to a broad audience or specific target audiences with nuance and purpose
- Commitment and responsibility to steward the fundraising budget, report on that budget, and be aware of funding opportunities in relation to Treetops’ programming needs
- Relational and warm, while maintaining professionalism while representing the Treetops Collective community
- The candidate is committed to Treetops Collective’s mission of creating a more welcoming community for New Americans
- Ability to manage team members as well as committees
- Event planning experience preferred
