What are the responsibilities and job description for the Associate Attorney position at Trent Law Firm, PLLC (Cedar Falls, Iowa)?
Our team of 4 attorneys and 6 legal assistants at Trent Law Firm, PLLC in Cedar Falls is now hiring. Trent Law is proud to have been honored with the 2024 Waterloo-Cedar Falls Courier's Best of the Best competition as 1st place for "best small company to work for," 2nd place for both "best boss" and "best attorney's office," and 3rd place for "best customer service (finance and professional division)." We take those honors seriously and that's one of the many reasons we are excited to grow our team. While the firm is located in Cedar Falls, Trent Law provides legal services throughout the state and thus accommodates team members located throughout Iowa through remote work as needed or desired.
The firm seeks to provide full service legal services in a variety of practice areas, so Trent Law will consider applicants who practice in its existing practice areas and in practice areas where it currently does not practice. Ideally, a candidate would have experience working in at least two of the following areas of law : probate, real estate, business law, and guardianships / conservatorships. However, if a candidate has experience in other areas of law that he or she wishes to bring to Trent Law, that would be a welcome addition to the firm. A successful applicant must be a self-starter who has excellent writing, customer service, and organizational skills. A successful applicant must have experience in working with Microsoft Office Suite (i.e. Outlook, Word, Excel, etc.) and must have incredible attention to detail.
Benefits include a competitive pay structure (that will meet or exceed the candidate's existing pay structure), merit-based bonuses, guaranteed commission based on collected billables (as per a formal written agreement), a flexible schedule, matching retirement plan, 4 weeks of paid time off (plus 8 paid holidays), employee-paid group health insurance, and employer-paid disability coverage. Additionally, all attorneys have unlimited access to utilize highly trained legal support staff to assist with their cases. The firm also has a generous reimbursement plan including for all CLEs and bar association dues. This position is a 40 hour per week position but as long as certain benchmarks for productivity are met, team members work only 36 hours per week (one afternoon off per week) but still are paid for 40 hours per week. Other flexible and remote options are also possible as we pride ourselves on being a "family first" firm. If a more part-time position is desired, please note that preference in your cover letter. Partnership and leadership opportunities are available if desired.
To apply, please submit a resume and cover letter to our director of operations Emily Sheerer at Emily.Sheerer@TrentLawIowa.com on or before Friday, March 14, 2025.
