What are the responsibilities and job description for the Patient Service Representative position at Tri-Century Eye Care, PC?
Tri-Century Eye Care is expanding and looking for passionate and talented individuals to join our team.
We are looking for a caring and organized Patient Representative to join our medical practice in our Southampton, PA office. You will be responsible for an array of activities related to patient care, including scheduling and confirming appointments, triaging patient symptoms, and verifying information supplied by patients. You should be able to work in a fast-paced environment and demonstrate exceptional multitasking abilities.
To be successful as a Patient Representative you must be able to facilitate and coordinate communication between patients, family members, and medical staff.
The job requires:
- Checking in and out patients in a timely manner and answering inbound phone calls
- Outstanding professional phone management
- Making appointments for patients
- Obtaining patient identification and verifying insurance
- Collecting copays and fee
- Scheduling patient appointments and making reminder calls.
- Obtaining patients’ addresses, contact details, insurance information, and medical histories.
- Answering, investigating, and/or directing patient inquiries or complaints to the appropriate medical staff member.
- Following up with patients to ensure their inquiry or complaint has been satisfactorily resolved
- Informing patients about insurance requirements, copays or out of pocket costs.
- Triage patient symptoms
Hours will vary daily. One evening a week until 7 pm and one Saturday a month until 1 pm is also required. 40 hours/week guaranteed.

Skills, Knowledge, and Attributes Required:
- Required English language proficiency
- Knowledge of customer service principles and practices
- Excellent customer service and communication skills (written and verbal), accompanied by active listening skills, patience, and stress tolerance

- Well organized, with attention to detail
- Ability to maintain the confidentiality and integrity of medical records and protected health information
- Reliability in meeting or exceeding attendance and punctuality standards
- Ability to work with normal supervision
