The Safety Coordinator will be responsible for the owning, updating and executing the Tri County Metals Safety Program covering all TCM Team Members, equipment, structures and property. They will formulate, improve upon, and execute short-term and long-term safety objectives throughout the company following the Safety Program . This role reports to the Leader of Compliance and Team Relations.

Create a Team Member engaged and driven safety culture.Confirm execution of the training, safety, and processes by team members.Ensure all Trainings and Recertifications are performed, documented, and followed up on as it relates to each Team Member.Weekly Team L 10 Meetings {TMS Team}Complete Weekly To-Do’s
Work on quarterly rocks to stay on schedule with an update on their progress.Updates on any recertifications or training that need to take place.Bring any new issues or future rocks to the table for discussion.Implement improved operating rhythm to drive Team Member engagement and development.Attend Weekly Level 10 Team Meetings. {Your Team and other Teams}
Responsible for making sure Leads are having monthly safety meetings, attendance is taken, and all Team Members are updated.Weekly “toolbox” updates for L 10 team meetings, and safety topics for the CAP.Execute and document safety training throughout the year as specified in the Safety Plan.Monthly Safety Team Meetings with Team Members across all departmentsChair the Monthly Safety Committee meeting including planning and ensuring follow-up
Ensure that all members of the current Safety Committee have been provided dates and times of meetings.
Provide guidance at the Safety Meeting as it pertains to issues or ideas.Facilitate new action items or following up on old action items as it pertains to safety concerns or violations.Safety walks inspections of Branches, Offices and Warehouse locationsFollow the Inspection checklist for each visit as defined in Safety Program.
Make general observations and documents for safety risks.Note violations or safety issues to address and review with the Lead at the location.Follow-Up with any issues addressed for completion based on agreed time-frame.Discretion should be used in determining the corrective action time-frame.
Interview Leads or other Team Members within their areas to see if they have any safety concerns or ideas on how to improve their safety culture.Coach leads and Team Members with safety lessons on each visit.Development and ImplementationComplete 20 hours of personal safety training and development each calendar year.
Complete Safety Training for new Team Members and new to role Team Members covering safe work practices, tools, machines, structures, property, and processes that are applicable to each role.Uphold and enforce safe work practices. This includes influencing safe behavior by positive reinforcement such as recognition of worker’s safe work performance. Institute, introduce, and encourage new means of training and growth through our Safety Program.Investigate all accidents, incidents, and near misses, identifying the root cause, proposing corrective action to prevent re-occurrence and reeducate Team Members who could be impacted by the change.Maintain the steps to retain “SHARP” certified each year at all eligible locations.Regularly document and obtain knowledge from outside sources including but not limited to OSHA regulations as it pertains to safety. Then incorporate into the Safety Program of TCM.Review the TCM Safety Program annually, working with the Safety Committee, Team Member Support and Leadership Team and update as needed.These Performance Expectations may not fully cover all aspects of the TCM Safety Program, this role is required to follow all aspects of the Safety Program.
Key Performance Indicators (KPI’s) – Reviewed Quarterly BasisPerform 99% of the number of inspections following the set inspection schedule for each quarter.Recertifications complete an average of 3% or higher per week of the annualized number.Complete investigations of all incidents, accidents and near misses timely, with at least 99% completed within 5 business days and formulate corrective action for prevention.SHARP progression at all eligible locations measured as 25% per quarter for year plan.For Safety Committee and personal objective – completion of 80% of ROCKS and 90% To-Do’sRole Requirements
Additional Skills Required :Excellent management and leadership skills.
Extensive knowledge of safety protocols and emergency preparedness.Extensive knowledge of company safety policies and applicable Occupational Safety and Health Administration (OSHA) standards.Excellent written and verbal communication skills.Proven ability with Crucial Conversations.Ability to conduct appropriate training.Excellent organizational skills and attention to detail.Proficient with Microsoft Office Suite or similar software.Education and Experience :High School Diploma or GED required, associate’s degree or higher preferred.
Trade certifications can be considered in lieu of degree.3 or more years of safety role experience preferred.OSHA 30 certification or higher required, OSHA 511 preferred {updated every 3 years}Can obtain OSHA 511 within the first 24 months in the role.
Current CPR & AED Certification. Can be obtained within the first 3 months in the role.VARK learning style competence preferred.Physical Requirements :Prolonged periods sitting at a desk and working on a computer.
Must be able to lift 50 pounds at times without assistanceAbility to move throughout the facilities as required to conduct safety inspections.Prolonged periods of time outside, in a warehouse environment and weather elements.
