Job Summary
The Career Essentials Teacher is responsible for developing and delivering engaging lessons allowing the student the opportunity to explore, develop and practice essential career-readiness skills including how to find, obtain, and keep a job as outlined in the Chapter 74 Vocational Frameworks. This role focuses on instructing students in employability (personal skills, workplace skills), career readiness, digital literacy, citizenship, basic communication skills, and other general elements of the competency-based course of study common to all teachers.
Key Responsibilities:
• Curriculum Development: Design and implement a comprehensive curriculum that meets state standards and aligns with industry needs. Incorporate hands-on activities, real-world applications, and technology integration.
• Instruction: Deliver high-quality instruction using a variety of teaching methods and technologies to engage students and accommodate diverse learning styles.
• Assessment: Develop and administer assessments to evaluate student progress and provide timely feedback. Use data to inform instructional practices and support student growth.
• Classroom Management: Create a positive and inclusive classroom environment that fosters student participation, collaboration, and respect.
• Advising: Provide academic and career counseling to students, guiding them in exploring vocational opportunities and post-secondary education.
• Collaboration: Work collaboratively with other teachers, industry professionals, and community organizations to enhance program offerings and student experiences.
• Professional Development: Stay current with industry trends, educational practices, and technology advancements. Participate in professional development opportunities and contribute to the school community.
• Compliance: Ensure adherence to all state and federal regulations regarding vocational education and maintain accurate records of student attendance and performance.
