Job Summary:
We are seeking a creative and dedicated Vocational High School Graphic Communication Teacher to join our educational team. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in graphic design and communication as well as photography and video production, and a commitment to teaching students the skills necessary for successful careers in the graphic arts industry.
Key Responsibilities:
• Curriculum Development: Design and implement a comprehensive graphic communication curriculum that aligns with MA DESE standards, incorporating hands-on projects and real-world applications.
• Instruction: Deliver engaging and effective instruction in graphic design principles, including typography, layout, color theory, digital imaging, multimedia production, photography and video production.
• Assessment: Develop and administer assessments to evaluate student understanding and practical skills, providing constructive feedback to support student growth.
• Classroom and Lab Management: Establish and maintain a positive, safe, and inclusive learning environment that fosters creativity and collaboration.
• Collaboration: Work closely with other vocational program instructors to integrate graphic communication skills into broader vocational training, ensuring students receive a well-rounded education.
• Professional Development: Participate in ongoing professional development to enhance instructional practices and stay updated on industry trends, technologies, and best practices in graphic communication education.
• Parent and Community Engagement: Maintain regular communication with parents and guardians regarding student progress and foster relationships with local businesses and organizations in the graphic arts industry to support student learning and job placement.
• Advisory Role: Act as a mentor or advisor to students, assisting them with academic challenges and guiding them in career exploration and job readiness.
