Job Summary: We are seeking a creative and dedicated Vocational High School Graphic Communication Teacher to join our educational team. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in graphic design and communication as well as photography and video production, and a commitment to teaching students the skills necessary for successful careers in the graphic arts industry.Key Responsibilities: Curriculum Development: Design and implement a comprehensive graphic communication curriculum that aligns with MA DESE standards, incorporating hands-on projects and real-world applications. Instruction: Deliver engaging and effective instruction in graphic design principles, including typography, layout, color theory, digital imaging, multimedia production, photography and video production. Assessment: Develop and administer assessments to evaluate student understanding and practical skills, providing constructive feedback to support student growth.
Classroom and Lab Management: Establish and maintain a positive, safe, and inclusive learning environment that fosters creativity and collaboration. Collaboration: Work closely with other vocational program instructors to integrate graphic communication skills into broader vocational training, ensuring students receive a well-rounded education. Professional Development: Participate in ongoing professional development to enhance instructional practices and stay updated on industry trends, technologies, and best practices in graphic communication education. Parent and Community Engagement: Maintain regular communication with parents and guardians regarding student progress and foster relationships with local businesses and organizations in the graphic arts industry to support student learning and job placement.
Advisory Role: Act as a mentor or advisor to students, assisting them with academic challenges and guiding them in career exploration and job readiness.
