Reporting to the Director of Career and Employability Resources the Career Counselors will be responsible for providing both prospective and enrolled students as well as graduates with career development guidance through the creation, implementation, and continuous improvement of career counseling, resources, and programs. The Career Counselor must possess excellent technology skills with the ability to identify applicable assessment and career counseling resources unique to the student they are interacting with. Additionally, the Career Counselor will have a demonstrated understanding of the whole student development framework with a focus on career counseling, student programming, career readiness, and collaboration amongst internal and external stakeholders.Responsibilities include, but are not limited to: COUNSELING: Provides career counseling through assessment, reflection, and discernment to help the individual align academic interests with career goals. Supports students in all academic divisions and those in Corporate and Community Education programs. STUDENT PROGRAMMING: Collaborates and creates ongoing partnerships with faculty and staff to identify, define and meet student career planning needs, goals, and objectives of students. Partners with division colleagues to provide expertise, initiative, and leadership to design solutions that help current students overcome and/or remove barriers to their success through co- and extra- curricular activities. Develops and delivers career-related presentations to students and the community. CAREER READINESS: Provides career readiness resources and services to students and alumni to include assessment, industry research, job search skills, resume writing, cover letters and mock interviews to develop workplace skills that align with the needs of area employers. COLLABORATION: Assists in the design, development, and implementation of programs that support whole student growth and development for improved educational success. Assesses programs and services, evaluates data, and makes changes as required to improve student outcomes. Establishes policies and procedures to improve programs. Works within assigned financial parameters, make recommendations for program and budget development. OTHER: Performs other duties as assigned.
