We welcome applicants from all backgrounds and experiences who are committed to excellence in education.Job Purpose: Under limited supervision of the Director of Financial Aid, this position manages, leads, and directs the daily running and policy implementation of institutional policies and procedures encompassing federal and state financial aid regulations. This position also supervises the creation, development, and offering of financial planning services to students. This position is a critical aspect of the financial aid leadership team providing knowledge, leadership and strategic vision within the Office of Financial Aid. The successful candidate will perform the job under limited supervision of the Director of Financial Aid. Responsible for research, development, implementation, monitoring and maintaining the college's efforts in Financial Literacy and Default prevention. Must be able to interpret and apply federal, state, and institutional regulations, policies, and procedures to make independent decisions and exercise sound judgement in advising students, managing staff, running an office, reviewing financial aid paperwork, and managing budgets and other college resources. Expected to take initiative in developing programs and processes in response to the needs of the college and the customer.Job Duties: Hire, train, and supervision of Financial Aid Staff and provide leadership within the Office. Align the staff and office culture with college wide strategic initiatives, providing students with a transformative student experience. Plan, evaluate, and organize day to day operations of the office of financial aid to ensure a smooth and efficient operation. Represent the Director in their absence.Project Management/Leadership – Lead departmental and institution projects that have lasting impacts on the campus community and students in support and execution of the college’s mission and vision. Ensure successful project completions through detailed documentation, thoughtful strategy development, and intentional execution by engaging in with diverse populations and team members from across campus.Responsible for the implementation and dissemination/alignment of federal, state, and institutional policies and procedures with office staff and service providers. Develop and maintain written departmental processes and procedures, including strategies for maintaining high quality service and advising protocols throughout the year and during high work volume periods. Must be able to look at current processes with a keen eye and use LEAN methodology to improve efficiencies to work in a more systemic manner that better serve our students.Develop, implement, lead, monitor and maintain all campus wide strategic initiatives for comprehensive loan default prevention and management program and Financial Literacy programs (Money Management Center) for students and employees. Improve the college cohort default rate by researching and using local and state resources. Partner with internal and external departments and agencies to provide a regular cadence of events and services to campus.Develop and conduct regular trainings both within and outside the financial aid office within the matrix-management framework of enrollment services. Develop and oversee strategic initiatives and cross-training within the financial aid office and through external departmental partnerships associated with at-risk students, particularly through the Money Management Center initiatives across all campuses, as relates to financial aid, financial literacy, and student debt management.Counsel and assist students and parents in all aspects of student aid eligibility, application, renewal, and financial planning and assistance. Be an effective counselor by being a good listener and communicator. Educate students and parents on regulations, policies, procedures, and processes so that every student understands why we must do certain things and make certain decisions.Represent Office of Financial Aid through the forward vision of predicting, preparing, and understanding the multilevel impacts of emerging trends and new regulations. Articulate/disseminate regulations and policy through representation on college committees, teams, or work groups. Responsible for a small case load that provides life-cycle processing for their cohort of students requiring significant breadth and depth of financial aid knowledge. Attend professional development conferences at the state, regional, and/or national level
