Job Responsibilities
Tri-County Technical College seeks collaborative, energetic, and innovative Lifetime Fitness and Wellness Adjunct Instructors. Reporting to Department Head of Comprehensive Studies, the successful candidates will teach courses using systematically planned and delivered instruction for the program; maintain records of student academic progress and attendance, evaluate level of achievement, and assign grades for the program. The 2025 Fall Semester begins August 11th. This role is a part-time, non-benefited role.
This course, SFT 109, introduces students to the theory and principles upon which the concepts of lifetime fitness and wellness are based.
Topics covered include physical fitness & wellness, nutrition for wellness, weight management, preventing sexually transmitted infections, exercise programming, addictive behavior, behavior modification, stress management, and disease-prevention (amongst others). The course includes lecture time and a lab component that requires students to participate in health-enhancing physical activity outside the classroom.
Minimum and Additional Requirements
- A Master's in Education or Health Education with an emphasis on fitness and wellness or physical education or a Bachelor's Degree in Physical Education with a Master's Degree in an education or health-related field.
- Must be physically able to lead and participate in health-enhancing physical activity and exercise with students.
- Must be physically able to lead and participate in health-enhancing physical activity and exercise with students to teach lab sections.
Preferred Qualifications
Teaching experience in a secondary or post-secondary school. Experience working with at-risk students and students from diverse backgrounds. Experience teaching physical fitness to students at the two-year community college preferred.
