Job Description

Responsible for analyzing and improving enterprise business applications, software, and business processes. Provide user support, coordinate with the business community, and collaborate on new functionality requests. Develop prototypes for process flows, workflows, and systems.

Note : There is one position available, and the position will be filled at one of four job grade levels: IT Business Analyst I, job grade 6; IT Business Analyst II, job grade 7, IT Business Analyst III, job grade 9; or Senior IT Business Analyst, job grade 10. This decision will be based on the qualifications and experience of the candidate selected, and Tri-State business needs at the time of hire.

Senior IT Business Analyst

Hiring Salary Range: $106,000-135,000

IT Business Analyst III

Hiring Salary Range: $96,000-$121,000

IT Business Analyst II

Hiring Salary Range: $77,000-$96,000

IT Business Analyst I

Hiring Salary Range: $70,000-$86,000

Actual compensation offer to candidate may vary outside of the posted hiring salary range based upon work experience, education, and/or skill level.

Responsibilities

  • Elicit and document IT project requirements.
  • Collaborate with internal and external teams on project work.
  • Produce requirements, test plans, test cases, user guides, and flow diagrams.
  • Act as a primary tester for technology projects.
  • Drive changes through the Change Approval Board.
  • Assist with technical writing for design documents.
  • Plan and implement new releases of business applications.
  • Coordinate User Acceptance Testing (UAT).
  • Optimize workflows and stay updated on business systems technology.
  • Map requirements to commercial software products and assist in procurement.
  • Develop estimates and cost-benefit analyses for projects.
  • Lead planning for new releases of business applications.
  • Contribute to standardized methodologies.
  • Onboard, train, and mentor Business Analysts.
  • Develop metrics to measure Business Analysis function success.
  • Adhere to electric utility industry regulations and compliance.
  • Because Tri-State is an electric utility with continuous service obligations to its customers, regular, reliable, and predictable performance of the essential functions and responsibilities is an essential function of the job.
  • Because Tri-State has an obligation to provide continuous, reliable electric service to its customers, the ability to work overtime at any time of the day or week is an essential function of the job.

Qualifications

Education and Training

  • Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Management Information Systems, Information Technology or related area or equivalent combination of education and/or experience.

Knowledge, Skills, And Ability

  • Knowledge of software development life cycle.
  • Experience with user requirements elicitation and documentation
  • Effective communication and ability to maintain confidentiality.
  • Experience in technical writing, team coordination, and support of enterprise-wide applications.
  • Strong knowledge of Microsoft Office, especially Word Excel, and Visio.
  • Understanding of business analysis principles, processes, and techniques.
  • Ability to develop and prepare use cases, functional specifications, and technical requirements.
  • Flexible and adaptable in regard to learning and understanding new products or platforms.
  • Excellent communications skills, both oral and written with ability to explain complex issues in clear, concise, persuasive language.
  • Ability to conduct research into software-related issues and products.
  • Proven analytical and problem-solving abilities
  • Strong focus on customer service.
  • Highly motivated and self-directed; able to effectively prioritize and execute while under pressure.
  • Highly adaptable and flexible; able to adjust quickly to new situations and changing priorities.
  • Ability to work both independently and in a team-oriented, collaborative environment.
  • Creative problem solver with good understanding of accounting financial processes.

Experience

  • Eight (8) or more years progressive related business applications analysis experience with the following areas:
  • User requirements elicitation, documentation and analysis
  • Technical Writing in an Information Technology environment
  • Support of enterprise-wide business applications
  • Experience in business process engineering

Note: The above requirements describe the experience and education qualifications for the Senior IT Business Analyst. Those with less experience will be hired at the Trainee, I, II or III job grade level.
