Our well established and growing client is seeking to hire a highly qualified engineering professional to join their team and become their Vice President of Operations. To be considered for this role, candidates will have at least ten years of operational managerial experience, overseeing multiple functions in order to meet company objectives. In this new and exciting role, the Vice President of Operations will be responsible for overseeing two facilities, one located in Western, MA and the other located in Toronto, Canada, where they will be tasked with directing the operational activities to achieve stated budgets and financial performance based on guidance from the CEO, as well as be responsible for the daily operations including manufacturing, purchasing, engineering and quality functions. In addition, the Vice President of Operations will evaluate resources (labor and equipment) to balance capacity needs against backlog and projected revenue targets while investigating and proposing capital expenditures to maintain and improve productivity.
To be successful in this role, candidates should have experience in sheet metal fabrication and machining processes. They will have overseen quality and engineering functions to drive continuous improvement activities and will have assisted subordinates with the development of their own annual budgets and work with the CEO to prepare all budgets in a timely manner. A Bachelor’s degree in Engineering or similar is a must have for this position, a MBA is preferred. Additional Duties and Responsibilities
- Manage and develop staff including 6 direct reports both local and in sister plant
- Develop a training plan to ensure all operators have the requisite skills with adequate cross -training.
- Responsible for leading the process of establishing yearly operational corporate goals and use the goals process to drive all continuous improvement initiatives as well as coordinating the corrective action system, Quality Review board, and Quality Planning Meetings.
- Participate in and help set agendas for the DOR, QRB, Sales and Backlog, and safety committee meetings.
- Responsible for overseeing the established safety program and promoting safety awareness.
- Responsible for monitoring operations and physical plant to ensure compliance with all current federal, state, and provincial safety regulations.
- Use standard process improvement methodology to drive quality and efficiency gains for all operational activities.
- Responsible for continuously monitoring quality KPIs and OTD performance to ensure stated goals are being met.
- Responsible for ensuring engineering is providing sufficient technical detail to support operations in a timely manner, including new development projects.
- Assist Engineering and Manufacturing in ensuring all tooling and equipment is fit for service without substantial downtime, including maintaining a preventative maintenance plan and consistently evaluating the need for backup tooling to minimize production loss.
