Position OverviewThe Staff Attorney is an integral member of the Triage Cancer team, providing legal, programmatic, and communications support to the organization. Triage Cancer is an equal opportunity employer committed to workplace diversity.Essential FunctionsLegal ProgramsResponding to requests for assistance from individuals through the Legal & Financial Navigation Program in English and SpanishConducting research on cancer-related legal and legislative issuesDrafting content for educational materials, resources, blogs, and articles on cancer-related legal and legislative issues in English and SpanishSupervising student volunteers, interns, and legal externsMaintaining and updating databases and other filesEventsDeveloping and delivering live and recorded presentations on cancer-related legal and legislative issues for Triage Cancer events and other events in-person around the country and online in English and SpanishSupporting the coordination and execution of in-person and online educational eventsRepresenting Triage Cancer at events in English and Spanish, including staffing a booth, giving away incentive items or gift bags, conducting surveys, and directing traffic to the boothCommunicationsPromoting Triage Cancer services by engaging in outreach efforts, such as building relationships with the legal community, laws firms, and law schoolsContributing to marketing and communications efforts on behalf of Triage CancerContributing to programmatic reports (e.g., for organizational funders)Other duties as assignedKey SkillsSpanish language skills requiredProficiency with Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Publisher), email, and the internetStrong oral and written communications, problem solving, and organizational skillsExcellent customer service skills, with a professional demeanor in person, in writing, and on phone and video callsAbility to think strategically, and to develop and implement projectsOther RequirementsJuris Doctorate degree; licensed attorney preferredA minimum of 1 year of experience practicing law, or other relevant work or volunteer experience in areas related to social justice, civil rights, or public interest law.Ability to travel to events throughout the United States as necessaryPosition StructureThis position reports to the Triage Cancer CEO and will be primarily a remote position. This position is a 40-hour per week, exempt, W-2 position. Salary range is $75,000 to $90,000, dependent on experience. Benefits include : vacation and sick leave, dental, vision, and life insurance; health reimbursement arrangement (HRA); and 401k plan with an employer match.
