Job Summary and Qualifications

Assumes responsibility for the operational leadership of the rehabilitative services departments in accordance with hospital needs. Collaborates with administration on the strategic direction of the departments and services while maintaining regulatory compliance and high quality patient service.

Manages the fiscal and clinical operations of assigned area(s) of responsibility and recommends sufficient number of qualified competent persons to provide care. Participates in outside source selection for needed services.

Manages daily operations of all rehabilitation services with the assistance of rehabilitation managers.

Coordinates and integrates services with internal and external customers.

Develops and implements policies and procedures that guide and support provision of services. Supervises staff and assures staff competency.

Conducts ongoing assessment and improvement of the department’s performance. Promotes the Quality Management program of the facility maintaining appropriate quality control programs (where applicable).

Develops, markets, implements, and evaluates new services and programs recommending space and resources needed. Participates in outside source selection for needed services.

Ensures compliance with regulatory agencies.

Develops goals and objectives for assigned area(s) of responsibility and participates in development of goals and objectives for the department.

Provides orientation, in-service training, and continuing education for persons in the department.

Provides clinical direction for the department’s rehabilitation services, including direct patient care, when needed. Position is required to have competence to assess, treat, or care for the age groups indicated by the check marks.

EXPERIENCE

Required - 5 years total work experience, 3 of which are in one of the clinical service areas provided by the Rehabilitation department.

Preferred - In addition to the above, will possess advanced education, training, or experience in health care management or administration.

EDUCATION

Required - Graduation from accredited school of Physical Therapy, Occupational Therapy, Speech-Language Pathology or Nursing.

Possession of valid Physical Therapy, Occupational Therapy, Speech-Language Pathology, or Registered Nurse license to practice in Virginia.
