Estimator / Project Manager - Commercial Construction
Job Summary:
The Construction Estimator / Project Manager is responsible for both estimating and managing commercial construction projects. This hybrid role involves preparing accurate cost estimates, bidding on projects, and overseeing construction execution from start to finish. The ideal candidate ensures projects are completed on time, within budget, and according to quality standards while maintaining strong relationships with clients, subcontractors, and vendors.
Key Responsibilities:
1. Estimating & Bidding
- Review project plans, blueprints, and specifications to develop accurate cost estimates.
- Analyze labor, material, and equipment costs, ensuring competitive pricing.
- Solicit and evaluate subcontractor and supplier bids.
- Prepare and submit project bids and proposals to clients.
2. Project Planning & Scheduling
- Develop project schedules, work plans, and resource allocations.
- Coordinate with architects, engineers, and subcontractors to define project scope.
- Identify potential risks and implement mitigation strategies.
3. Budgeting & Cost Control
- Track and manage project budgets, ensuring cost efficiency.
- Monitor expenses, process change orders and prevent cost overruns.
- Review and approve subcontractor and vendor invoices.
4. Site Management & Quality Control
- Oversee job site activities, ensuring compliance with project plans and safety regulations.
- Conduct regular site visits and meetings to track progress.
- Troubleshoot on-site issues and ensure high-quality workmanship.
5. Client & Subcontractor Coordination
- Act as the primary point of contact for clients, providing regular updates.
- Negotiate contracts with subcontractors and suppliers.
- Maintain strong relationships with key stakeholders to ensure project success.
