Seeking an individual for a Marina Dockmaster position in the Kent Narrows area. A successful candidate should possess strong skills in customer relations, maintenance and marina/property management experience, excellent organizational qualities, outstanding people skills and the ability to work efficiently without supervision. This position will involve all areas of customer relations, slip leases and reservations, basic maintenance, assist in the day-to-day marina operations.
Job Duties and Responsibilities
Dock & Marina Operations:
- Oversee all docking, fueling, and boat movement activities.
- Assist boaters with docking, securing lines, and launching.
- Monitor and enforce marina rules, policies, and safety regulations.
- Manage slip assignments for transient and seasonal boaters.
- Conduct routine inspections of docks, pilings, utilities, and other marina infrastructure.
Customer Service & Communication:
- Provide friendly and professional service to all marina guests.
- Serve as the primary point of contact for slipholders and transient boaters.
- Address and resolve customer inquiries, concerns, and complaints promptly.
- Communicate marina events, policies, and emergency procedures to boaters.
Maintenance & Safety:
- Ensure docks, fuel stations, and marina facilities are well-maintained and safe.
- Report and coordinate repairs for any damage or hazards.
- Monitor weather conditions and take necessary precautions for storms and emergencies.
- Implement and enforce emergency response plans as needed.
Administrative Duties:
- Maintain accurate records of slip rentals, fuel sales, and daily operations.
- Assist in managing reservations, billing, and payments.
- Supervise dock staff and assist with training when necessary.
- Collaborate with the marina manager on operational improvements and customer outreach.
Job Requirements
- Strong Customer Service Skills
- Good mechanical knowledge for basic maintenance and upkeep
- Strong boating background preferred
- Prior experience with docks and/or marina management and maintenance is a plus
- Experience with marinas a plus but will train the right person
- Possess strong organizational and time management skills
- Possess excellent attention to detail and communication skills (oral and written)
- Must be available weekends and holidays in season, and on call in emergencies.
