Description
Trident is looking to hire a Recruiter to join our team and jumpstart their career in Human Resources. This individual will coordinate mass seasonal hiring for various vessels in Alaska and will act as a point person for Alaska Operations teams by performing the below duties.
This position is based out of our Support Center in Seattle, WA and requires ability to travel domestically and internationally (average of 25%).
The ideal candidate will have related industry experience (food manufacturing, agriculture, fishery, etc.), proficiency in a secondary language (preferably Spanish), skills in spreadsheet management, and in high-volume staffing for manual and industrial labor positions.
Key Responsibilities
- Confers with Alaska vessel management and supervisors to identify seasonal crew needs, job specifications, job duties, qualifications, and skills.
- Participates in formulating the recruiting strategy for each upcoming season (includes advertising, recruiting trip planning, hotel and conference space selection, etc.).
- Travels to other cities to conduct recruiting job fairs and interviews to attract new candidates each season, approximately 10-12 trips per year.
- Reviews applications and interview applicants to obtain work history, education, training, job skills, and salary requirements, and provide information about the organization and position.
- Manages the hiring process for multiple vessels and/or plants assigned. Includes the management of the recruiting database of candidates and all screenings associated to qualify the eligibility of candidates.
- Leads and assists others in the contracting of several thousand employees per season in the Seattle HR office, the Tacoma Shipyard, Anchorage and hotel locations in Seattle.
- Works with the company travel agency to coordinate and reserve airline travel arrangements for employees during contract signing periods and throughout the fishing season.
- Initiates contact with possibly qualified candidates for specific job openings.
- Screens and refer candidates for additional interviews with others in organization.
- Provides information on company facilities, work environment and job opportunities to potential applicants.
- Travels to assigned Alaska Plants and vessels to perform training and facilitate applications from returning workers at the end of each season. 2-4 weeks per season
- Contributes to the team by indexing electronic documents into employee records.
- Assists HR Managers with special projects as needed.
- Ability to travel for recruitment meetings and job fairs and maintain a flexible work schedule.
- Acquires knowledge of Trident’s Environmental and Safety Policies by completing required training programs and performing designated work activities in accordance with training and procedures/work instructions
- Notifies designated personnel of any environmental or safety incidents or risks not previously documented, in accordance with Environmental Awareness and/or safety trainings
- Maintains crew list and assist with payroll as needed
- Performs other similar or related duties as requested or assigned.
Minimum Requirements
Experience
- 1-2 years’ experience in Human Resources, with at least 1 year of Human Resources administrative experience or 1-2 years related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience.
- Proven candidate sourcing and relationship building skills.
- Effective oral and written communication skills.
- General knowledge of various employment laws and practices.
Education
- High school diploma or general education degree (GED); or 1-6 months related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience.
Qualifications
- Available for an average of 25% travel annually
- Available to travel domestically and internationally during peak recruiting seasons including weekends.
- Available to work weekends as needed during contract signing seasons, typically January and June.
- Available to work weekends during travel to Alaska for contract signing and plant/vessel visits.
- Excellent presentation skills, in English and secondary language.
