Our privately held client is seeking a talented and proactive Assistant Controller. This role will be ON-SITE in Charlotte, NC.
This role demands a strong grasp of GAAP and actively contributes to the team by mentoring colleagues and building effective working relationships with individuals across the organization.
Your Mission:
- Drive Financial Accuracy: Oversee the monthly close, ensuring precise recording of financial activities and the timely preparation and review of key financial documents.
- Fuel Strategic Insights: Analyze financial performance against targets and prior periods, identifying trends and opportunities for improvement to inform critical business decisions.
- Empower the Team: Coach and develop accounting team members, fostering their professional growth and collaborative spirit.
- Optimize Financial Processes: Contribute to the design and implementation of robust accounting policies, practices, and controls across the organization.
- Collaborate on Company Initiatives: Participate in cross-functional projects, bringing your financial expertise to the table.
- Be a Key Resource: Support the Director of Accounting with audit and tax-related inquiries.
- Embrace New Challenges: Tackle diverse tasks as needed to support the finance function.
What You'll Bring:
- A Bachelor's degree in Accounting (Master's a plus, CPA highly valued).
- 8 years of progressive accounting experience with a strong grasp of GAAP.
- Bonus points for experience in manufacturing or distribution.
- Proven ability to lead and mentor accounting teams.
- Advanced mastery of Microsoft Excel.
- Familiarity with ERP systems, ideally Microsoft Dynamics 365 (Business Central).
- Exceptional written and verbal communication skills.
