Trillium Staffing is now seeking a Mechanical Structural Engineer in New Berlin!

Company is global leader in the manufacturing and servicing of lifting equipment, including cranes, hoists, and other material handling solutions.

Job Duties :

  • Conduct analytical calculations to assess stresses in structural and mechanical components of cranes, utilizing static and fatigue failure theories. Familiarity with stress-life approaches and industry standards for allowable stresses is essential.
  • Evaluate the static strength and fatigue life of components such as fasteners (welds, bolts, keys), shafts, bearings, and gears.
  • Expertise in standards like AWS D1.1 / D14.1, AISC, CMAA, and AGMA is required.
  • Use analytical tools such as MathCad, ANSYS, proprietary software, and in-house developed programs to perform mechanical and structural calculations for crane components, ensuring compliance with NOG, AISC, ASME, AGMA, CMAA, NUREG, EN, KTR, and other relevant standards.
  • Develop and maintain programs in MathCad, Excel, and APDL to streamline and automate calculations, ensuring accuracy through independent verification methods.
  • Construct detailed 3D ANSYS models of various crane types (overhead, gantry, jib) to simulate the behavior of components during seismic events.
  • Perform buckling analysis, both global and local, of crane structures, meeting the requirements of CMAA, FEM, EN, and NOG standards through Eigenvalue and nonlinear analysis techniques.
  • Optimize bridge girders and crane components considering functional constraints like buckling, yielding, and fatigue.
  • Familiarity with ASCE and IBC codes is a plus.

    Minimum Qualifications :

  • A Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical, Structural, or Civil Engineering is required. Preference will be given to candidates with a Master’s degree or Ph.D.
  • A minimum of 2 years of related experience performing mechanical or structural calculations for steel equipment. Preference for candidates with at least 5 years of experience.
  • Ability to travel domestically and internationally as needed.
