The primary role of the Lead Right of Way Agent is to manage ROW projects and ROW agents on those projects and negotiating with landowners and / or their representatives for the acquisition of property rights necessary for transportation infrastructure projects. Day to day tasks include preparation of documents such as right of entry, conveyance easements, purchase and sale agreements, lease agreements, etc. They will be responsible for preparing, maintaining, and updating all physical and electronic files per federal, state, and local laws and regulations related to land acquisition, utility coordination, and land development. Additionally, in this role, the Lead Agent will spend time on business development and marketing in both Utah and other states, for future ROW Projects. An interest in being cross trained between land acquisition, utility coordination, railroad coordination, and public engagement is a plus.
What are the core responsibilities for the role?
- Act as the Lead ROW Agent on multiple projects, coordinating with acquisition and relocation agents, managing the project budget, and marketing for upcoming projects.
- Marketing and business development to bring in additional ROW acquisition projects.
- Establish relationships and maintain contact with landowners and / or their representatives throughout a project’s full life cycle.
- Negotiate settlements for the purchase of land rights.
- Work closely with civil engineers, surveyors, municipal clients, attorneys, appraisers, and title companies through a project’s full life cycle.
- Perform all records management duties including preparing and maintaining accurate, timely, and complete conveyance documents, QC of agents logs and files.
- Review the accuracy of data entered into spreadsheets or databases to ensure that it is compliant with company policies and procedures.
- Review documents and reports for accuracy in order to determine correctness or incompleteness.
- Perform other related tasks as assigned by supervisor / manager
