Job Summary:
The Managing Director, Corporate Controller will be overseeing the entirety of accounting operations for Trimont Global, along with its subsidiary and affiliated entities, including managing the company's Accounting as a Service business segment. The Managing Director will report directly to the Chief Financial Officer (CFO), ensuring a streamlined communication and reporting process regarding the financial operations and strategies of the company and its subsidiaries and affiliates.
Responsibilities:
- Provide leadership and direction for all aspects of accounting operations and reporting, including general ledger, consolidations, accounts payable, billing and accounts receivable.
- Develop and implement operational accounting papers to support the changing nature of the business.
- Design, implement, monitor and continually improve data capture, accounting and reporting processes to support the capital structure and risk protection strategies of the business.
- On a continual basis, partner with business operational peers to critically assess and prioritize operational accounting and related business processes improvements.
- Develop director level resources within the accounting function to manage and own ongoing data capture, accounting and reporting responsibilities to enable the Senior Managing Director to focus on governance and spearheading improvements.
- Develop performance metrics that both equitably assess current team performance and drive performance improvement within the team, factoring in both onshore and offshore resources and roles.
- In alignment with the company’s resourcing goals, continually assess team staffing needs; hire, train, and develop staff to meet company and departmental objectives.
- Ensure compliance with the company’s accounting function’s policies and procedures and critically assess, update and communicate improvements on an ongoing basis.
- Ensure company financial reporting adheres to US GAAP or other relevant accounting standards based on jurisdictional requirements.
- Keep senior management informed on the implications of changes in accounting rules.
- Design and implement robust internal controls to protect company assets and ensure accurate financial reporting.
- Engage with executive team to understand company strategy and provide input on how it could be implemented; ensure accounting operations are aligned with business needs.
- Understand and manage audit processes for each entity, coordinating with auditors to meet all requirements.
- Develop and maintain processes for compliance with local, state, and federal tax filing and reporting obligations and engage external advisors where necessary.
- Review and authorize the disbursement of corporate funds.
- Partner with service line leaders and business development team in sourcing new Accounting as a Service business opportunities.
- Develop a thorough understanding of client needs and expectations and ensure team is appropriately staffed, in accordance with the company’s resourcing goals, and trained to meet client needs.
- Implement processes to ensure the integrity of financial reporting to clients and proper authorization on disbursement of client funds.
- Serve as a resource to team members and clients on US GAAP treatment of various commercial real estate transactions.
Required Qualifications:
- Bachelor's degree in accounting.
- Certified Public Accountant (CPA) license required.
- Advanced understanding of US Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP).
- A working understanding of International Financial Reporting Standards.
- Proficient in using accounting software. NetSuite experience is preferred.
- 15 years' experience in related fields, with at least 10 years in a managerial role.
- Strong analytical skills with the ability to develop and implement improvement strategies or recommendations.
- Demonstrates disciplined attention to detail.
- Excellent interpersonal and project management abilities.
- Committed to consistently delivering high-quality work across all tasks.
- Adept of working efficiently in a deadline-oriented environment within a defined reporting framework.
- Knowledge of commercial real estate transactions and related terminology is required.
