Job Overview :
The Patient Care Technician processes families for WIC enrollment, orientation, and benefit issuance. The PCT explains and collects signatures for consents to provide health screening, share immunization information and other programs administered under the auspices of the NJDOH.
Qualifications : Required :
Required :
- High School Diploma or GED
- BLS Certification through American Heart Association only
- Spanish Speaking / Bilingual
- Ability to work with the NJWIC system
- Effective communication skills
Certifications and Licenses :
BLS certification through American Heart Association
Scheduling Requirements :
- Days 7 : 00AM 3 : 00PM
- Mandatory Orientation
- Full-Time (40 hrs)
Essential Functions :
- Verifies identification of all applicants applying for program benefits which includes demographic data, race and ethnicity and medical information
- Verifies guardianship / foster care documents
- Conduct financial screening of households according to NJWIC income guidelines to determine income eligibility
- Process affidavits for identification and income as needed
- Verifies address and or documents homelessness
- Screens for adjunctive eligibility and verifies enrollment in Medicaid, SNAP and or Public Assistance Assigns Authorized Representatives, Alternate Authorized Representatives and or Proxies
- Provide written and verbal Right and Obligations during certification and collect electronic signatures
- Process ineligibility files according to NJWIC policies
- Is able to process a discrimination complaint
- Process Voter Registration Opportunities for all applicants and secure electronic signature
- Completes medical, immunization and blood work
- Operates equipment, maintains logs according to NJDOH
- Refrigeration log, control logs, supplies and hazardous waste collection are maintained
- Handles emergencies and discusses allergic reactions, prior to providing service
- Completes reports as required : Monthly Delayed bloodwork Report
- Provides anthropometric screening and uses equipment appropriately performing height and weight measurements
- Interprets data and completes documents as required by NJWIC policies
- Ensures equipment is inspected as required Date of scale calibration annually
- Monitors lab supply inventory
- Completes annual trainings and male appropriate referral and completes compliance reports
